The tiny village of Jukkasjärvi (known locally as Jukkas) lies 17 kms east of Kiruna and 200 kms north of the Arctic Circle in Swedish Lapland.
Every year the world’s largest igloo, Icehotel, is built by the side of the Torneälven river during mid November where it stands throughout the winter until temperatures rise above zero and it melts away back into the river.
Icehotel is not only an hotel built of ice and snow but is, in itself, an art project; inspired by the river and built by experienced ice artists who create new and unique art and design each year.
A wide range of outdoor activities make the most of the great outdoors and offer a multitude of experiences.
