safaris, driving a reindeer and snow-shoe trekking – at an easy pace that is suitable for all ages. There is plenty of free time to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings, or indulge in simpler pleasures like
building a snowman or toboganning. You could even spend a night in an igloo! With all meals and thermal clothing included this package offers excellent value for a truly memorable holiday.
A weekly activity programme is also available from Hotel Jeris, so it is possible to tailor-make log cabin breaks to suit individual requirements, subject to availability.
ITINERARY
SUN. 10.20 Depart Heathrow for Helsinki and onward flight to Kittila, arriving 17.45. Transfer to Hotel Jeris.
6 nights Full Board –Log Cabin at Hotel Jeris.
MON. Meet your guide who will give you full information about the week’s programme, then, after instruction you set off on a 30km Snowmobile Safari. During the safari you will stop for a picnic lunch by a campfire, and on the way back you stop for some ice-fishing. (Duration of safari about 3 hours). The rest of the day is at leisure to enjoy as you please. Children may like to try out the minisnowmobile circuit.
TUES. In the morning you can learn the basics of cross-country ski-ing, and after lunch there will be a short snow-shoe tour in the immediate surroundings of the hotel.
WED. Short transfer to a reindeer farm to learn more about the life of the reindeer. Try your hand at driving a reindeer sled, then enjoy lunch around the fire in the kota (Sami-tent). Return to hotel with afternoon at leisure for perhaps some tobogganning or relaxing.
THURS. Today you will meet the happy huskies and learn more about them before departing on a two-hour husky safari, covering about 17km – two persons to a sled. During the safari you stop for a picnic lunch by a campfire. Afternoon at leisure.
FRI. A free day to enjoy as you please. You could go cross-country ski-ing, take a snowshoe tour, or take part in an excursion to Levi skiing centre. Lunch in hotel. In the evening a Farewell Dinner with Lapp specialities will be served in the hotel restaurant.
SAT. Transfer to Kittila Airport for 13.20 flight to Helsinki and onward flight to Heathrow, arriving 17.10.
