Your Northern Lights break begins with a flight, on a Thursday for three night breaks, to Kiruna in Sweden, the Gateway to the Arctic. From Kiruna, you make the two hour transfer to the Davvi Arctic Lodge in Karesuando, Finnish Lapland, a spectacular journey, travelling through the majestic forests and passing countless frozen lakes and rivers before reaching the border. NORTHERN LIGHTS SNOWMOBILE SAFARI
Duration: Two hours
An evening excursion when, with the night sky overhead, you head out through the wilderness to a vantage point in the hope of seeing the fabled and magical Northern Lights. Two adults share a snowmobile. Includes hot drink.

NORTHERN LIGHTS FOREST TREK
Duration: One hour minimum
You will be guided on a walk through the forest to a spectacular viewpoint, overlooking the divided village of Karesuando. From here, you may be lucky enough to witness the Northern Lights dancing above the village. Includes hot drink.

CALL OF THE WILD HUSKY SAFARI
Duration: One and a half hours
An unforgettable adventure into the wilderness, pulled by your own team of beautiful huskies. Two adults share a sled and dog team. Includes hot drink

REINDEER CAMP

The highlights of your Northern Lights break will be the two occasions when you set off beneath an Arctic night sky in the hope of encountering the Northern Lights, a husky wilderness safari, plus learning the invigorating skills of cross-country skiing. And as well as all the included activities detailed below, you will have the option of experiencing a night in an igloo (that’s something to tell your friends all about!) and an optional overnight stay in Tromso, Norway’s cool capital of the high north.

CROSS-COUNTRY SKI SCHOOL & GUIDED SKI TOUR
Duration: Two hours
The Davvi Arctic Lodge is a great choice for cross-country skiing. There are long wilderness trails, some groomed and illuminated, with one located next to the hotel. You will receive ample tuition before trying a short skiing trip. Not as complicated as it looks, healthy and great fun too.

SÁMI MUSEUM & ICE CASTLE
Duration: Half-day
The small Sámi museum at Hetta (about 50 mins drive) provides a fascinating insight into the culture and traditions of the Sámi people. The ice castle, reconstructed every year, features a number of rooms with ornate ice carvings..

KNIFE FACTORY
Duration: Minimum one hour
Situated on the Swedish side of the village, the tour includes a brief tour of this traditional knife factory and an opportunity to see the importance of knives in everyday Sámi life.
