Duration: 6 or 7 nights
Day 1: Flights, arrival and introduction
You will be greeted at Kittila Airport and transferred to Harriniva where there will be a meeting with your guide followed by a welcome dinner.
Day 2: Reindeer farm and safari
Today you will visit a reindeer farm where you will meet the herders and learn about the importance of reindeer in Lapland. You’ll learn how to lasso a reindeer and practice your driving skills during a 2 hour safari through the snowy forest.
Day 3: Snowmobile safari
Snowmobiles are an indispensable mode of transport here in Lapland. Your guides will give you full instruction before your exhilarating safari speeding through the winter scenery of Fell Lapland. You will travel around 60km and will break en route at an ancient forest and learn about the conservation projects that are helping to protect this magnificent wilderness.
Day 4: Free day or optional activities
Today is free to partake in optional activities (payable locally) such as cross country skiing, ice fishing or perhaps you may choose to visit Lainio Snow Village.
Day 5 and 6: Overnight husky safari
The highlight of any winter holiday in Lapland is the chance to drive your own team of huskies. During this two day safari through the wilderness you will get up close to nature and work in harmony with your team. You will meet the dogs and receive instruction on their care and how to handle the sled before departure and you will cover around 25km en route to a wilderness cabin where you can relax in a sauna before dinner and bed.
If you are woken in the morning by what sounds like a pack of wolves surrounding the cabin, fear not, it’s just your huskies anxious to be back on the trail. This second leg of your adventure covers approximately 25 to 30km before you arrive back at Harriniva for dinner and a sauna.
Day 7: Free day or departure (6 nights duration)
For those people travelling on dates which are 6 nights in duration it is time to say goodbye to Finland. For those staying 7 nights you can fill your free day with a range of additional activities (payable locally) or perhaps stay at Lainio Snow Village.
Day 8: Departure, transfer and flights (7 night duration)
Harriniva Wilderness Hotel

Situated in the heart of Lapland near the remote town of Muonio, Harriniva encapsulates the very best of Finnish Lapland. This family run hotel has 64 Scandinavian style en suite bedrooms. Most of the rooms accommodate two or three people but there are some larger bedrooms suitable for families (subject to availability).
The hotel has three cosy dining rooms (including one with a log fire) and a pub ideal for a relaxing drink after your activities. Naturally, this being Finland, there are two large saunas and a family sauna within the main building. For a bit of pampering, the Aurora Wellness Centre offers therapies such as massages and a variety of facials. On the riverbank there are two jacuzzis, two steam baths and an ice hole - for the very brave!
Safari Houses and Cabins
On our longer overnight husky and snowmobile safaris you spend some nights in shared safari houses or cabins with full access to all the hotel’s facilities. Each safari house or cabin has its own shower, toilet and sauna and provides the perfect place to bond with your fellow adventurers before your safari. All of your meals will be served in the main building.
Wilderness Cabins

Any holiday that incorporates an overnight safari will include at least one night in a wilderness cabin.
Some of the cabins can be basic (no electricity or running water) but they are all comfortable and cosy, especially once the fire is burning and dinner is cooking. Sleeping arrangements are in dormitory style areas. Despite their far-flung locations, there is always a sauna available - after all, this is Finland!
The cabins are generally so remote that there is little or no light pollution creating the best possible chance of seeing the Aurora Borealis.
Lainio Snow Village

Lainio Snow Village is built and run by our good friend Rami Kurtakko and is approximately 200km North of the Arctic Circle. In the Snow Village, you can spend a night in the SnowHotel, have a dinner in the IceBar or enjoy the igloo disco with drinks served in ice glasses. Or you can just marvel at the magnificent sculpture art all around the area.
Snow Village is located in the Western part of Finnish Lapland, in close proximity of Ylläs and Levi ski-resorts and easily reachable from the international airport of Kittilä.
An overnight in one of the cold bedrooms or suites is an unforgettable experience.
